Where do we start? What is the process?
While the process varies with the size and scope of each project, New Castle has a systematic method for working with customers. After the initial phone discussion, New Castle will schedule a free in-home consultation to discuss your needs and determine the project scope. Next, they will provide a bid and timeline, work with you to address any changes, and sign a formal contract.
Most importantly, you will find New Castle to be different in this area. Although our process is professional and structured, we pride ourselves in accommodating the objectives and working style of each client. Our start-up process will address all your upfront concerns and start the project off toward a successful end goal!
What's included in the bid?
Our bids include all labor and material. Allotments are specified within the bid for item selections to be made later in the process -- flooring, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, etc. The allotments are estimated based on initial client conversations but can be changed as desired. Before work begins, all parties will be on the same page regarding the project scope, timeline, budget and allotments. As much as possible, our process will anticipate common pitfalls, so the end project price meets the agreed-upon price.
How long will the project take?
Of course, lead times and project timelines vary. We will determine the timeline prior to project start.
Do I have to put money down?
For larger projects, a payment schedule will be provided along with the bid and agreed upon at contract signing.
How involved are you in the material selection process? Will you provide a designer?
This is another area where we provide flexibility to meet each customer's preferences. As you make design choices, we will be happy to work with you directly, recommend one of our partner designers, or collaborate with a designer of your choice. Additionally, we do not limit your selections or require you to shop at certain retailers. As you work with the allotments allowed in your contract, you are free to select lights, flooring, cabinetry, etc. from merchants of your choice. Throughout the process we are always happy to provide guidance and recommendations.
Can I make changes throughout the project?
Yes, we are happy to accommodate changes throughout the project as long as modifications are finalized prior to the start of the affected project phase or material purchase. Unlike many home contractors, we do not charge a set change fee. Any additional charges will simply reflect the change in material cost and labor required.
Are you insured and licensed?
We are fully insured ($2 million liability policy), licensed to do business in Georgia, and carry a Georgia Contractor License (#RBCO004762). As you consider different contractors, be aware that many are licensed only with a local business license. As of 2009, all contractors are actually required by the State of Georgia to obtain a State Contractor's License. To obtain the State License, candidates must undergo extensive testing administered by the State Licensing Board and complete continuing education each year. You can trust that fully licensed contractors, like New Castle Building Group, are well-informed of the latest building practices and codes.
Do you provide references?
Yes, simply request them. We are happy to provide references!
